A 'marvelous' bombastic theme.

Description/Purpose: For a Mountain setting in a real-time RPG. The piece starts off awkwardly since the Marvelous Mountains aren’t as Marvelous as we’re lead to believe. However, once things get underway, a loud, bombastic fanfare chimes in that is quickly forgotten shortly after and gives way to a rousing, syncopated bass line. The horn and violins come in with a fast-paced melody which switches between 4/4 and 5/4. Giving way later on to a serious of chords before the piece begins to quiet down in order to start the loop.

Instruments: Horn in F, Trombone, Tuba, Timpani, Percussion, Piano, Strings

Description / Purpose:
Finally! I spent my whole Christmas Eve on this song. I wanted a rich orchestral sound whilst still retaining my usual tastes. I aimed for this to be over five minutes long, and it seems that I have done that. I even put up a pic for this song:P

This is my second piece composed on Fruity Loops 8. I was kinda going anywhere with piece, but at the same time keeping in track with the theme.

The first 26 seconds of the song is supposed to be a slow, film score-like opening. A scene where the view pans over the battle field. At 27 seconds you will hear the main piano melody for Elohim’s Ballad (if you’ve heard it). When the snare drums kick in at 41 seconds I imagine you would see the two armies of soldiers marching to Valhalla, weapons in hand. Parts of it should sound like a battle, such as at 1:22 – 2:30, which was inspired by Elohim’s March (dannyboyk2’s arrangement on Elohim’s Ballad). At 2:31, it would sound film-score style again, and at this point both sides would have reached the battlefield and the camera would pan over the battlefield once again, also giving a look over at each others cannons, catapults, etc. At 2:58 you would probably hear my classic opening battle motif that is usually played with a low piano. In this song it’s played with a very low spiccato violin. At 3:40 is where I change things up a bit, and take a little interlude from the whole epic serious battle theme and tried for a baroque-ish style. At 3:53 I think I did well to flow back into the serious, epic battle theme. And at 4:21, well it’s just epic.

Instruments Used:
Full Strings
Violins
Piano
Cellos
Contrabasss
Orchestral Drums

Inspiration:
Nothing really, apart from the fact that I used some melodies from my previous composition: ”Elohim’s Ballad”.

Description / Purpose:
I so suck at describing things in english, but i try my best : )
I wrote this instrumental for a escape-scene. the character in this scene seems to be safe (flute intro), but when the percussion starts, he gets a feeling that he might be not. and he starts to run.
thats what i had in mind. i think its good for a trailer or a scene where you don’t know what happens at the end, maybe he gets caught or not; the end comes rather quick, so the player/listener/viewers can have different opinions on whats
going to happen next. i personally like that about a scene in a movie or game.

Instruments Used:
Flute, String Orchestra, Percussion

Inspiration:
this was ringing in my head for quite a while hehe. i’m still a beginner in sequencing/composing, and i had never lessons in music theory. i wrote this because i had this feeling. but i can’t tell you what i wrote as in chord progressions, harmony and so on. maybe you guys can teach me some other time?

Written for February 2008’s Contest. This piece was meant to be a theme for an arch-villain’s lair, a walking, living castle with all sorts of morbid things contained within. The walls of this theoretical castle are covered in human skeletons, and the floor is crawling with all sorts of malicious beasties. I meant for this to have sort of a feeling of a final dungeon of sorts, and I wanted it to feel pretty epic too, and I think I succeeded. This is also meant to loop.

Instruments Used:
Full String Section with several articulations, Full Brass Section with two articulations, Oboe, Bassoon, Harp, and assorted Percussion instruments (basic orchestral percussion, woodblocks, crotals, gong, bongos).

Inspiration:
Hitoshi Sakimoto’s stuff, as usual. Specifically the Nalbina Fortress Underground Prison Theme from FFXII, though it really only influenced me in terms of the percussion writing.
