Welcome to Sakari Infinity, the number one resource for original, free game music,
and the best place on the net to meet up with some of the most talented rising video game musicians out there.

Heya everyone. This is my first announcement as admin at Sakari.

A few things:

The Garritan Personal Orchestra forum is hosting an amazing orchestration guide. It has 26 lessons, each one with virtual scores which you can actually play back. It's basically a digital, interactive orchestration book & course. And totally free! I suggest you all check it out here:
http://www.northernsounds.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=77

Some of the musicians on the forum have been submitting tracks to a new Run Time Package. Basically, this will be to use alongside of, or replace the RPG Maker series default MIDI RTP. A collection of MIDI music that people can use in their games. While it is written for RPG's - anyone will be able to download and use the package - as long as credit is given to Sakari and/or the composer(s).

I urge all composers at Sakari, and guests to join in the forum and submit tracks to this great resource. We hope to get it done over the coming months - it will be a great tool to not only attract more visitors to the website, but for the games themselves. Get involved! Smiley

The topic is here: http://www.sakari-infinity.net/forums/index.php?topic=1447.0

I would also like to remind people here for the downloads that there is a great forum here - and it would be nice to see some more active members. The forum is not just for composers, we have sections for game developers, artists, and people who just want to talk about whatever. Come on in!

Peace,

Chris

Hello everyone.

I'm here again to announce that we've made the biggest change out of all the upcoming changes to the site. Here is a straightforward list of changes:

 - Chris Hurn is the new Administrator of Sakari Infinity.

 - Psygon, Arcanum, and Kenneth are now Local Musicians.

 - I've cleaned up the Local Musician member group, and the following members need to contact me to be re-added to the Local Musician group: Daryus, jstreet, Kain, Matt, Shizu. I know most of you guys are around, just PM me and I'll add you back to the LM group.

Chris Hurn will be handing the job of leading this forum. Please give him the same respect you've granted me all these years. Like I said, I'll still be around, just not as much.

Chris, the helm is yours. Smiley

Hello.

I am here as the the owner and administrator of Sakari Infinity to announce that there will soon be a change in the structure of persons running and maintaining this Web site, and in the way the site is run. In short: The site will remain as it is with minor changes to how it's run and who runs it.

Firstly, I want to thank the current and past Staff members, who have helped me run the site and community for so long. I'm certain that they'll continue to help run the site, as I will, under this new structure. Joseph, Dave, Alex, Ken, Adam, thanks guys!!

Secondly, I'd like to acknowledge and thank FadingHeartbeat and the Local Musicians, who have graciously offered to assist in running this site as I step back. You all are great.

Now if I may, it's time for me to discuss these changes in further detail. By the end of this month (May), I will be stepping back from full-time staff and administrator to part-time administrator due to circumstances completely within my realm of control. That's not a phrase typically used, but I want everyone to understand that I'm not being forced to give up my full-time status - I have made the decision to step back based on the fact that there is little time left in my schedule for me to fulfill my duties as an administrator to this community.

Similarly, the current Staff members will likely opt to step back and become part of the Local Musician group. They, as I, will continue to assist in running the site and community that we've all helped to shape.

Onto the Local Musicians... In the past, the Local Musician title has meant little more than: "Hey, I have some songs on Sakari Infinity". However, this is going to change dramatically. Local Musicians now have the capability to adopt and decline submissions to Sakari Infinity based on a decidedly-fair voting system. This means a few things will change:

   1. Your submission will be listened to by AT LEAST 3 musicians before a complete decision is made

Many of you have probably noticed how foul a mood I've been in lately. There are several reasons, but mostly I'm just tired and overly-busy. There has also been some mysterious admin activity lately... At least 2 songs have disappeared from the site, and I've been getting weird PMs from people who are pissed off about something, and I'm not sure why... And of course there's the whole Ace_Greyson incident (sorry again, stoex, for snapping at 'ya).

To be perfectly honest, I don't have time for this site right now. The staff members have hardly been on at all, and haven't been doing anything with the submitted songs (unless they're just rejecting them or adopting them without reviews), and omin0uschaos is no longer a staff member after 3 years... All of that adds to my frustrations.

I'm juggling the idea of either shutting the site down or handing it over to someone else, because while I still like the site and want to keep it, I realistically don't have time for it anymore. It wouldn't be fair to have the site sitting around with no one running it, and I don't think that anyone is interested in running it. However, this site has been a paragon of quality music (in one form or another) for almost 10 years now, and I wouldn't want to just throw it all away. We'll see how things pan out...

So here we are. I'm not making any decisions right now, but I wanted to give the active members a heads up about what's going on and why I've been so inactive recently. If I've snapped at you in the last few days, you probably did something wrong, but I was also probably too much of a jerk in response, so I apologize for it.

I suppose that's all for now. Undecided

Let this be an example...

A while back I received a submission from Ace that was not his work. It was from a Final Fantasy game, it was not disguised, and there was a description and inspiration typed out for the piece as if it was his own composition.

I've since PMed Ace about it, and he assured me that it was the only one, and that it was an accident. After that PM, I've learned that another song he's been toting around - "At Wars End" - is not actually his song either. He has posted it in the WIP forum (twice), and submitted it to the Sakari Infinity MIDI RTP as his own contribution.

The song is titled "Aftermath", and it was written by audioMuse, now a member of this forum: zeryx28. I'd also like to note that I made the discovery about this song before zeryx28 joined.

Therefore, Ace_Greyson has been removed from the Local Musician group.

@Ace: I will not tolerate theft, Ace, and you're lucky I'm not banning you. You can thank another member for that, because originally I was going to ban you. If you've done this with any other songs, I'm sure people will want to know. I know I do.
