Description / Purpose: Created to show the change in the character ’Ike’ from ’Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance’ from the beginning of the game to the end in music. This is for the year end competition.

Instruments Used: Piano, String Ensemble, Low Brass, Vibraphone, Various Percussion Instruments, Timpani, Melodic Tom

Inspiration: Many different pieces, but mainly those used in Fire Emblem: Path of the Radiance.

Ike and Path of Radiance:
The game starts on Ike’s last day of training before he becomes a member in his father’s mercenary company. They accidentally stumble upon the Princess of Crimea. They are quickly pursued by the enemy, Daein. One dark stormy night, Ike finds his father dueling with a Black Knight, and his father is killed. Ike struggles with this for most of the game. Once past the death of his father, he gets promoted to the rank of Lord and General by the Princess. He leads his army to victory.

Explanation:
This piece goes through 4 movements.
1. Naivete: This section shows the innocence and care-free life that Ike once led as a child. Training with his father to one day become a part of his father’s mercenary team. He grows up to a teenager. When suddenly (at 1:11) he is called by his father to pack his things. They’re on the run.

2. The Run: This movement is to portray the mercenary company having to run away from their enemies. On a stormy night, Ike’s father is killed (at 3:05).

3. Ike’s Sadness: This movement is all about Ike trying to move past his father’s death and fill his father’s shoes at such a young age. (at 5:33) Ike finally realizes what must be done to help his country.

4. The Change: This is my favorite movement. This movement clearly demonstrates Ike coming into maturity and into his own with leading. He feels the encouragement of everyone around him and he feels like he can take on the world. And he does. (at 6:45) He leads his army and his country to victory.
